tales from the road, and a short story (but a long clip)

last week was crazy for us workwise - mary's producing a jingle for one of her clients in the midwest and i've been pulling 12-14 hour work days during the week to try to meet a really tough early-August deadline. we put nicolas in school the entire week, but it was still a little tough for all of us.

his school is closed this week and our projects are kicking into high gear, so to help out a bit (and as an early birthday present for my mom), mary met my parents halfway between oxford and new orleans saturday and let them take nicolas back there for the week.

we got this email from my mom tonight about today's activities:

He asked me this afternoon if I had any documents. I had NO idea what he was talking about and so he told me he would TYPE them for me if I needed him to!!!! Tonight a sheriff's deputy drove down our driveway because some boys had been racing 4-wheelers around the lake and were almost causing accidents left and right. Nicolas got so excited when the guy got out of the car, he RAN down the hill from the blueberry bushes as fast as he could yelling "Mr. Policeman, Mr. Policeman, I am picking blueberries". The guy said "do you have BLUE berries? When Nicolas said Yes I do, the sheriff said well, I have BLUE lights and turned his flashing lights on the top of the car on for him. I thought he was going to explode!
We turned the bubbles in my tub into lamb fur at bath time. Tomorrow he is going to build us all our own basketball goals and baskets ...IF grandpa has the right things to do it. If not he wants to go to the hardware store and get them...I can only imagine what's next.

i've got a ton of video clips that i need to post here, but until i have some time to organize them and select some of the funniest ones, i'm kind of randomly grabbing a few and hoping they'll work. this one from a week or so ago, is a bit long (3 or 4 minutes), but we found it pretty entertaining. then again, we're a little biased. feel free to get up and make a snack while it plays though, if you find yourself getting bored:
