snow day

we had some pretty snow earlier this week and nicolas enjoyed watching these huge snowflakes drift down outside our window during lunch:

Nursery rhymes, part deux

More nursery rhymes ...

future bandmates?

this has nothing to do with nicolas other than the fact that i think he and this kid should meet and form a band:

nursery rhymes

from a couple weeks ago:

oh well

i'm not sure why this is so funny to us - one minute he's dancing to Tutti Frutti in his room having a great time and the next minute he runs into the kitchen, sees some leaves on the floor from one of the plants I'd brought in, and just resigns himself to a few "oh well"s.

splish splash

ok, so we live in tennessee and are from mississippi and louisiana, and yes, our shirtless pot-bellied toddler is listening to jerry lee lewis here - but those are all just random coincidences, and you should not be compelled to draw any conclusions from them:

oops!

yesterday nicolas had us cracking up for most of the day. shortly after dinner he decided he wanted a banana, and he wanted to eat the banana on his step stool in the living room. this is the first thing that happened: then, this happened (and i just realized what he's saying at the end, "that was the ice. that was the ice. in the freezer" - referencing the sound of our ice maker producing more ice, which he had learned about earlier that day):

it was his idea...

a normal diaper!

i know this is kind of gross, but we were so excited to see that nicolas finally had a normal, healthy dirty diaper when he woke up from his nap today! wow, i never thought mary or i would be excited about a dirty diaper. i guess we're really getting old. i'll spare you guys any pics on this post - just wanted to let you know he's all better now.

keystone garage redux

from his recent visit with them, nicolas plays with one of the many cool toys at grandpa and grandma's house:

feeling a little better ...

but still dealing with this virus. spirits are high though, and the doctor's office says it can take a long time for the symptoms to go away. mary and i are over it. other than not being able to eat applesauce or fruit, nicolas seems to be holding up okay.

uggh

for the past few days we've all been fighting off a bad stomach virus and all the fun things that go along with it, but nicolas has maintained his spirits, and aside from several extremely uncomfortable moments today (his diaper rash is just painful to look at), he's pretty chipper. we thought he'd recovered yesterday, but we had a relapse today, so we're doing what we can to keep him as comfy as possible. In the meantime, you can enjoy a pic from happier days - his recent visit to grandma and grandpa's house, and the second christmas that went along with it (thanks for the pic grandpa!):

lammie dancing and some kitchen fun

sorry for the delay with this post. nicolas spent much of last week with grandma and grandpa while mary and i were back in new orleans. he had a great time and we should have some pics from his visit up here soon. until then, here's a rather long clip we took a couple weeks ago of nicolas playing with his buddy lammie and dancing around, and then heading in to the kitchen for some pots and pans:
