resilience

we've been "observing" nicolas' ear infection for the past several days, hoping it would clear up on its own, as most do. but today, his doctor told mary that the infection was now in both ears, and pretty bad. he pretty much insisted that antibiotics were our next best course of action. so, we've resigned ourselves (and nicolas) to them and will hope they can clear these ears up. i'm anti-antibiotics but i don't have a better option at this point, and more importantly i suppose, i don't have a medical degree.

despite his obvious discomfort, nicolas has been a real trouper. mary stayed home with him all day monday instead of taking him to daycare and he took it pretty easy today after his doctor's appointment. i've been playing with him when i get home from work (he's really into his legos and cars these days), and tonight he wanted to go for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner.

all things considered, he's been a wonderful little sick kid. mary snapped this pic of him at the post office on their way home. apparently he's feeling well enough to consider employment:
